Have you ever been scrolling through your Instagram feed and spotted an item of clothing, some shoes or an accessory you wish to purchase?
Instagram shoppinghas recently launched in Australia, meaning all it takes is the click of a button and the items will be yours.
With the evolutionary e-commerce and business tool added to the platform, users will be able to shop directly from various brands straight from their Instagram feed.
Brands can tag products available for purchase within their posts, allowing Instagram to evolve from a place where businesses are discovered to a place where business is conducted.
On the image that has the Instagram shopping tag, customers will be able to view the name of a product and how much it costs before purchasing the product straight from the app.
Businesses will also soon be able to get insights around the metrics that matter to them like how many people tapped to see more product details or click on “shop now”. By telling businesses more about their audience and which posts are performing well, they can create more relevant content.
Instagram shoppingwas first launched in the US last year and is now rolling out internationally. It is concurrently being launched in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK.
As part of the Australian launch, Instagram partnered with major companies Country Road, Myer and PepperMayo to test the feature and it will soon be available to all business profiles on Instagram.
All of this is part of Instagram’s continuing efforts to strengthen relationships between people and the brands they love by creating more opportunities – and simpler ways – to discover and explore products on Instagram.
How to set up Instagram Shopping Posts in 2018
To set up your own Instagram shopping posts you must have a Facebook Business Page for your business. If you already have a Facebook Business page it must be linked to your Instagram account. It must also have a “Shop”.
If you do not have a Facebook shop you must set it up via the following:
On your Facebook Business Page click Settings
On the left Column Click “Edit Page”
Scroll Down to your tabs and click “Add a Tab”
Navigate back to your Facebook business homepage and click “Shop” on the left column
A pop up will appear, tick the “I agree to merchant terms box”
Follow the prompts and add products
It may take a few days for Facebook to approve your shop. Once it is approved the products you add will be shared to your Instagram account to link to on posts.
