Want to know how to post old videos on Insta story? Frustrated that everything has to be filmed within the last 24 hours?

As with everything there is a way to avoid the rules. And when it comes to breaking the rules of social media yes, there is always an app for that.

Tools to use to post old videos on Insta Story

  1. WhatsApp.

Remember WhatsApp? I personally feel as though I haven’t used it in a while mainly because there are about a million other ways to keep in touch. Like when you wake up with an Instagram direct message, Facebook messenger message and text from the same person? You know who you are 🙂 Anyway the point being that if you text an old video to yourself and save it from WhatsApp* it will be in your last 24 hours to post on Insta story. Simply save the video from WhatsApp, open Instagram, open your story and swipe up to reveal the last 24 hours of video and photos. Select the video and voila.

NOTE* You must text and save the video within the 24 hours you want to post it. This is really helpful for my clients as I can recored and store content for them to use when it is relevant.

  2. iMovie.

Yes another app. While I edit most of my client videos in Premiere Pro I have iMovie on my phone for short Instagram videos. You can do a few handy things with this app and every movie you edit and save will appear in your last 24 hours on Instagram to be used for Insta story. I use this app to extend GIFs or videos that are too short to post by duplicating the content in the video editing section.

  3. Turn a GIF into a video to post on Instagram.

Frustrated when you see hilarious GIFs that you want to post on Instagram but can’t if they aren’t videos? I use EZGiph to turn them into videos so that you can post them. Check it out here.

If the GIF is too short to post refer to point 2. and use iMovie to extend the content.

BONUS TIP: How to download a video from Youtube.

Simply google “download video from youtube” and click the first link – https://www.onlinevideoconverter.com/video-converter

Select from the drop down list MP4 and add the URL of the Youtube video you want and it’s as simple as that. You can then send the video to your phone to upload to Instagram via airdrop if you have a Mac or email for anything else.
