How to Create a Content Plan in Minutes With Claude For Free

Every single client, at some point in the first month, asks me the same two questions: “What should I post?” and “What content should I create?”

It’s the most natural question in the world, and it’s also the one that keeps founders stuck. So instead of answering it fresh every week, I discovered something that answers it for me – a full content plan, done in minutes, not hours, automatically every Monday before I’ve even had coffee.

Here’s exactly how I set up Claude to study what’s trending in my niche, cross-reference it against my own account, and hand me a full content calendar without me lifting a finger.

The Setup: Claude Cowork + Claude for Chrome

This runs on two things working together:

Claude Cowork — the desktop version of Claude that can work in the background on multi-step tasks, not just answer one question at a time.

Claude for Chrome — a browser extension that lets Claude actually browse the internet, including scrolling through TikTok and Instagram to see what’s trending in real time. Without this, Claude can’t see what’s happening on social platforms right now – with it, Claude can go look for itself.

To set it up: open the Claude desktop app, switch into Cowork, and install the Claude for Chrome extension. That’s the whole setup – no code, no integrations to configure.

Turning It Into a Weekly Task

This is the part that makes it actually useful instead of a one-off experiment. Inside Cowork, there’s a Scheduled section. Click New Task, and you can set it to run automatically – I have mine set to every Monday at 7am, so my suggested content plan for the week is sitting there before I start work.

Once it’s scheduled, you paste in a prompt telling Claude exactly what you want done. This is the part people skip, and it’s the part that matters most – the more specific you are here, the better the output.

The Prompt I Actually Use

This is close to word-for-word what I gave Claude:

Every Monday, do the following:

  1. Use Claude for Chrome to browse TikTok and Instagram and study the top-performing content in my niche right now – look at hooks, formats, and patterns across a solid sample of posts.
  2. Cross-reference those patterns against my own Instagram account. Identify what I’m missing, where my content is falling flat, and where the gaps are.
  3. Based on both, build me a personalized content calendar for the week ahead – one idea per day, Monday to Sunday. Cross reference this with my current content pillars.
  4. For each day, include: content type (Reel, Carousel, Static), title, hook, outline, and caption.
  5. Save the result as a document I can open and follow.

Steal that. Swap in your niche and your handle, and you’ve got the same system running for you.

What You Actually Get Back

A saved document on my computer with exactly what to post, every day of the week – the content type, the title, the hook, the outline, and the caption already drafted. Not a vague list of “content ideas.” A plan I can open on Monday morning and just execute.

Where This Still Needs Me

I’m not going to pretend this replaces judgment. Claude is genuinely good at pattern-spotting – reading fifteen viral posts and telling me what they have in common is exactly the kind of task it’s built for, and it does it faster than I ever could manually.

What it can’t do is know whether a trend actually fits my brand, or whether a hook that’s working for a beauty account will land the same way for a fashion one. That call is still mine, every single week. AI builds me the first draft of the plan. I’m still the one deciding what actually goes live. Think of it as a research tool.

The Takeaway

If you’re a founder who dreads Sunday night because you still don’t know what you’re posting Monday morning, this is the fix. Set it up once, let it run weekly, and you’ll never open Instagram wondering what to post again – you’ll just open the document. And then when you film or create your content – batch, batch BATCH. Spend half a day creating everything, change your outfit, film multiple videos. Enjoy!
